The ‘strengthening ribs’ you refer to along the rear fuselage immediately in front of the tailplane are in fact anti-spin strakes. They are there to hold the tail up in a spin and prevent it going too flat, which would delay spin recovery. They should be mounted almost perpendicular to the fuselage (sticking out straight from it), not tilted up at an angle.
